I've done quite a bit of work trying to figure this out and here's what
I've come up with:
The AUX has different attributes, depending on the modem type set. Inout
leaves the DTR, CTS, RTS and DSR up. Host leaves DTR down and turns it up
when the port becomes active. This is equivalent to calling out.
If both sides are set to InOut, both interfaces try to call the other.
Each port appears to be busy, so the call fails. Then each side
backs off and retries. This is what causes the characteristic bouncing.
I've never been able to get callback to work for this reason.
Thanks,
