Leigh,
I am aware that all features and protocols aren't in all IOS images. The
statement was made that BGP and OSPF wasn't supported on the 2509 platform.
That is an incorrect statement. BGP and OSPF are supported on the 2509
platform. His IOS feature set "Remote Service Provider" doesn't support OSPF
and BGP but the 2509 does support OSPF and BGP with the correct feature set.

Dear Mr. Brian (Pudding) Dennis,
Not all IOS feature sets come with all IP routing protocols. I have a
router running 11.2(16) does not have BGP or OSPF (although I'm told by
Cisco that all IP only IOS releases are supposed to have OSPF
functionality - so go figure). I upgraded to 12 (something) and did manage
to get OSPF functionality...
DAN - What TAC was trying to say (and I haven't confirmed this is the case
but you can) is that you have too little memory on your router to support an
image that has these features. Check out "Feature Navigator" on Cisco's
website to determine the what IOS feature set you require and how much
memory you'll need to add on to your router to support the larger feature
set.

This is an 2509 remote access server.
When I try to configure OSPF, or BGP on the router it says unknown routing
protocol.
Although I can configure RIP, IGRP, or EIGRP.
Memory has nothing to do with it.
When I do a router ? under the config it shows OSPF & BGP, but it will not
allow you to configure them.
I repeat TAC says these two protocols are unsupported on this unit.
Thanks,

Dan,
A 2509 will support BGP and OSPF. I think TAC must not have understand what
you were asking.

Nevermind. TAC answered my question.
Apparently the BGP & OSPF processes are too CPU intensive for that unit &
are unsupported.
Thanks anyways,

I am having trouble finding an IOS that supports OSPF & BGP routing on my
2509AS.
It only has 8MB flash & 4MB ram.
Am I missing something here? It will use RIP & EIGRP.
Thanks in advance.
