Bummer dude. welcome to the REAL world of Cisco, where commands that worked
in one version of code suddenly break in another version. [Editorial: One
of the dangers for folks who get certifications without real-life operations
experience is that you don't necessarily experience production network code
bugs and anomalies (some of us call them 'undocumented features') and learn
to deal with them. This goes to the 'real life experience vs.
certification' schism] I'm sure you looked on CCO, I searched the Bug Tool
and couldn't find any bugs for "network command causes crash".

You might consider upgrading the code to 12.0(20) which is the latest
release of 12.0.

You might also strip away the BGP config (no router bgp <asnumber>) and
start with just a network statement to see if it still causes a crash.
Could be an "order of entry" problem. Also, make sure the network/mask
you're adding is in the routing table. That could be causing the crash,
too.

Good luck
