I posted this question to the list a while ago, I got an answer but now that
I have the chance to check it out it doesn't seem to work. I have a router
configured with DLSw, and it has a list of hostnames in the reachability
output shown below:
R2#sh dlsw reach
DLSw Local MAC address reachability cache list
Mac Addr status Loc. port rif
DLSw Remote MAC address reachability cache list
Mac Addr status Loc. peer
0007.94d8.ec08 FOUND REMOTE 5.5.5.5(2065)
0007.94e8.4bde FOUND REMOTE 5.5.5.5(2065)
1000.e1f0.2de2 FOUND REMOTE 5.5.5.5(2065)
DLSw Local NetBIOS Name reachability cache list
NetBIOS Name status Loc. port rif
DLSw Remote NetBIOS Name reachability cache list
NetBIOS Name status Loc. peer
ARBORVITAE FOUND REMOTE 5.5.5.5(2065)
FIG FOUND REMOTE 5.5.5.5(2065)
It shows the netbios names as found, but I can't ping them. I was told that
this is possible, is it? And if so, is it just a standard ping? I tried it
but the router wants to go to a name server to resolve the names. Any help
is appreciated.
