Non-Canonical vs. Canonical MAC

Does anyone have a list of when/where you use Canonical/Non-Canonical
addresses on the router? I thought all access-lists are done with
Canonical MAC addresses, but I seem to remember seeing Non-Canonical
used with DLSW????

I.E. Access-lists, DLSW mac-addresses etc....
