IPXWAN from what I understand provides an accurate delay (tick count) to the
interfaces upon negotiation. NLSP uses IPXWAN internally during the
adjacency negotiation. Manually configuring IPXWAN and NLSP at the same
time isn't needed. See:

Correct me if I am wrong, but isn't IPXWAN using RIP? I was able to get
NLSP working across a serial links by configuring a MAC address for the
serial interface. Adjacencies would not form until added the MAC address.

Subject: Strange IPXWAN and NLSP adjacency problems!!

Hello Group,

I've come across a strange problem with IPXWAN and NLSP forming adjacencies
across the IPXWAN.

The first time I configured it, it seems to form adjacencies across the
IPXWAN no problems. After I switched off my routers, and came back another
day to work on it, the NLSP adjacencies stopped forming!!! I just didn't
know why?!?! I did everything I could possibly think of, even rebooted
several times, but to no avail.

Finally, I tried a shut and no shut on the interfaces with IPXWAN, and NLSP
started to form adjacencies. It seems that after a reload or reboot, the
IPXWAN interfaces needed to be shut and no shut for NLSP adjacencies to come
up. I would assume that the adjacencies would form even after both routers
were rebooted.

I'm not sure whether this is IOS error or admin error, but it surely is
strange and I can't seem to find any info on this.

Please let me know if you have had similar problems.

BTW. the flashes in the two routers are: c2500-js-l.120-9.mz (yes it's a
compressed image), c2600-ds-mz.121-9.bin.

Thanks

Albert
