I am working on CCBootcamp lab 4 and trying to redistribute rip into BGP and
set the metric of the route =5. I tried accomplishing this task within the
redistribution command:

router bgp 1
red rip metric 5

I eventually accomplished the tack using a route-map but I would have
expected this to work correctly. When I did a sho ip bgp summ the metric
showed as 0. Without the metric being set in the redistribution statement
the metric field was empty. This leads me to believe the metric command is
doing something (obviously) but I was unable to get it to work properly. Am
I missing a step ? Has anyone used this command with success?
