Hello Group,

I know that IOS 12.1 code is going to be introduced in November, so I've
been looking into putting that into my routers. I've got 12.0 Enterprise
code loaded at the moment using MZMAKER for it to run on 16DRAM/8FLASH. Some
of the bigger 12.1 code runs out of memory when it decompresses and tries to
load itself.

So what I'm looking to do is to get the best 12.1 code to use that can still
be compressed and run. I've read from one of the posting, that it starts
getting flaky when using images over 12.5megs uncompressed.

I'm looking at using c2500-ds-l.121-9.bin which is IP/IPX/AT/DEC Plus, and
it's just under 12 megs. I looks like it might provide me with most of the
functionality and using the IOS Feature Navigator these are the extra
features Enterprise Plus has compared to IP/IPX/AT/DEC Plus:

Apollo Domain
Banyan VINES
Banyan VINES SRTP
Banyan VINES over ISL
CNS Client
Connection-Mode Network Service (CMNS)
DECNet V
Encrypted Kerberized Telnet
Frame Relay SVC Support (DTE)
IPSec Policy Agent II
ISIS
ISIS Multiarea Support
ISO CLNS
Kerberos V client support
Local Area Transport (LAT)
NetBEUI over PPP (NBFCP)
NetWare Asynchronous Services Interface (NASI)
PGM Router Assist
Protocol Translation
Rate Queues for SVC's per sub-interface
TCP Intercept
TN3270
Virtual Templates for Protocol Translation
XNS
XNS over ISL
Xremote

To me, alot of these features doesn't look like it's necessary in the CCIE
Lab. I know that there's also the Firewall feature set, IPSEC and maybe ISIS
that's missing with the IP/IPX/AT/DEC Plus code. So I think I would have to
use the IP/FW and the IP IPSEC code for them, and use 12.0 for ISIS.

Please let me know what you guys think.

Thanks

Albert
