Kentrox makes a drop and insert CSU/DSU that will accomplish what you are
looking for... The DSU has a db15 input interface that connects to the Wide
area connection. It also has another DB-15 output (PORT 1) interface to
connect to your PBX. The last connection has a serial interface(v.35) (PORT
2) that can be used to connect the router...
You basically configure which channels you want to "drop off" to port 2
(router). The other channels are passed onto Port 1. The only catches I
recall is getting your clocking correct and sometimes you have to play with
leading-edge vs. trailing-edge clock signal...

Subject: Voice & Data using a 1750
Can anybody shed some light on how to configure a 1750 with an external
CSU/DSU to support 4- channels for data and 20 channles for voice across a
full T-1. The customer has a 1750 with a integrated CSU/DSU serial card but
Cisco says this card cannot support both voice and data at the same time,
they would have to upgrade to a 2600 series with a Channelized T-1 module.
The customer doesn't want to spend the money and was told that an External
CSU/DSU attached to the 1750 with do both Voice and Data.
What kind of CSU/DSU can support this ??? Secondly how to configure this.
Any response would be appreciated, thanks !!
