The following are "rules of thumb" for the default metric when
redistributing to:
1. RIP, use half of the maximum number of hops within the domain from which
you're redistributing, or less, if you might exceed 15.
2. IGRP, use the bandwidth of the slowest link within the domain from which
you're redistributing and the sum of delays to that slowest link.
3. OSPF, use the sum of the costs to the slowest link within the domain
from which you're redistributing.
Bear in mind that these are "rules of thumb" best suited for a single exit
point. An understanding of how each protocol computes metrics will help
you in choosing default metrics.
