Andy,
I work at UUNET. UUNET purchased/merged whatever you want to call it with
Compuserve, who had a quite large X.25 network. The network is not purely
X.25 though and through though. This network is still very much alive. The
big difference is on the inside the network is actually not X.25, but is
running a link protocol called DDCMP between nodes and a is running a
proprietary routing protocol. From the outside you couldn't tell the
difference. From what we call the HAN (Host Adjacent Node- the closest node
to the customer) to the customer's router/PAD the protocol is X.25. We do
provide X.25 serices over the D-channel as well. Many of our customers use
this network for transaction services. We also offer a few remote-access
services through this network.
Good Luck!
