Ping SRB for RSRB, DLSw etc.

To all the SRB, SR/TLB, RSRB and DLSw gurus .....

I have been setting up some Bridging scenarios with routers only, however I'm f
inding it hard to test and to make sure that I'm doing the right thing. The IOS
doesn't give too much away when it comes to SRB stuff, DLSw is a little more i
ntuitive but still hard to test without hosts.

I was looking through ping commands and found "ping srb". I'm hoping this is a
way to test a bridging scenario without the use of hosts which would be very us
eful in the lab seeing as we don't have hosts there either and we have to rely
on instinct. However I'm not too sure how to use it. Here is what I get .....

p2r7#ping srb
Target MAC address: (Canonical or Non-Canonical?)
Ring Group : (I think this is the Virtual Ring number?)
Buffer Ring : (wouldn't have a clue ???)

When I try a variety of addresses and ring numbers, I get the following output
...

15:13:15: SRB ping: vre does not exist

If anyone knows how to use this command or has a better way of testing any type
of bridging scenario without the use of host devices, I'd appreciate your inpu
t. I couldn't find anything intuitive on the CCO site.

Thanks ....... MW :)
