Re: OSPF over Frame Relay non -broadcast networks using neighbor command.

If you want to use the "ip ospf network non" on all of your routers, then
here are a few things to remember:

1. Be sure that you have the "neighbor" commands in the hub and an "ip ospf
priority" greater than zero on the interface.
2. In the spokes, make sure that your "ip ospf priority" is less than that
of the hub. If the value is zero, then you don't need to include the
"neighbor" statement.
3. It takes longer for an adjacency to form on this network type. Be
patient.
4. Are really you having authentication problems?
5. Did you try "clear ip ospf p"?

It would help to see configs. I know that a lot of people hate to provide
them, but we could have this problem nailed in a few minutes if we had them.

Good luck...

Matt

Subject: OSPF over Frame Relay non -broadcast networks using neighbor
command.
Date: Mon, 27 Aug 2001 18:26:45 -0700 (PDT)

I have a hub and spoke frame relay network running
ospf. I am having problems getting the neighbors to be
fully adjacent with each other. The hub router becomes
full with each of the spokes and the spokes become
full with hub but I cannot get the spokes to become
full with each other. I have a "neighbor x.x.x.x"
command on the hub for each of the spokes and and I
have the same commands on the spokes for the hub and
the other spoke. When I do a show ip ospf neighbors on
the spokes I get the folling:

For the other spoke I get a Priority of 0 and State of
ATTEMPT/DROTHER. Is there something else that needs to
be done in order to get the two spokes to become
adjacent with each other?

I have the broadcast command at the end of my frame
relay map statements and I can ping from spoke to
spoke. I don't want to use the "ip ospf network
point-to-multipoint" or the "ip ospf network
broadcast" command.

Thanks for any help that you can give me.
