These are just unique numbers. In the book Advanced IP Routing in Cisco
Networks pg 265.
They use the loopback address in the net number. It's handy because then
the isis net becomes just like a ospf rid, and shows up on other isis
routers.
interface loopback 0
ip address 172.16.17.17 255.255.255.252
router isis
net 49.0000.1720.1601.7017.00
That reads as AFI 49, Area ID 0000, System ID 172016017017, selector 00
Don't know if area 0000 is legal, just used it to show the use of the ip
address in the system id. The book shows net 49.0001.1720.1601.7017.00
which is area one.
