Steve there's no sense in posting this sort of thing. The vast majority of
these people can't see the plain writing on the wall or are in denial of
what is clear. You are actually off a bit on the numbers too. It is about
200-250 a month which is about 1200-1500 CCIE's per 6 months. Once the
format shifts to one day we will have a month or two where the numbers will
be slowed. Cisco will then tell everyone that they were right about the
exam being harder. Then as everyone commits the usual NDA violations and
people figure out the new format the pass rate will be around 400-500.
IMHO, the first month that we have 500 people pass will signal the official
decline of the CCIE just as we have seen with all the other top certs. Sure
it won't be like the MCSE or CNE because it is still a lab exam (for now
anyways). But, it certainly won't be anything special worth putting under
your signature anymore. I know the first time I see 500 people pass in a
month I'm taking my number off my signature. The good news is something
else will come around to replace it eventually. The CCIE won't be the top
certification in this field forever. Juniper anyone? :)
