Mike,

I couldn't agree with you more. I have NEVER responded to these type of
postings until now, since I feel that I now have credibility with my own
digits.

If you worry about the salary, status, one-day format, unfair proctors, or
anything else other than the core content, you have already put yourself at
a disadvantage going into the lab from the unneeded anxiety you create. Keep
these things away from your head and focus your energy on learning.

I see a predictable trend here....the only people bitching about how CCIE
will loose its status blah, blah , blah are only people who haven't passed
yet.....or who can't hack the personal investment.

For all going for the 4 digit stamp.....KEEP TRUCKING. You've invested way
too much financially and emotionally to take any of this crap to heart. I've
been on the list for only a year and this <STUPID>, most ridiculous topic
comes up every couple of months. Keep going, study hard, and reap the
rewards ......... < DON'T GIVE UP>. Good luck to all August (and future)
candidates.

It's nice to see that the "Class Debate" is alive and well; even in America.

There is not a group of people who are destined for this cert, or the jobs
and money that accompanies it. You too can become a rocket scientist (in
America) with hard work, dedication, and commitment. It looks like the
discussion so far has not been about the CCIE as a VENDOR certification, but
as the "Promised Land". The vendor can do what it wants, and certify who it
wants. The moment you think that the cert is yours, or that you deserve it,
or that it can be taken away from you, or that others aught not to have it,
you have indicated your delusion, and your elitism.

It's just a cert, it's just a job, it's just knowledge. All of these things
are temporary. All of these things are superceded by things that are far
more important.

There WILL be too many CCIE's, everyone on this list should immediately stop
what they're studying and start working in another field!

the false premise here is that CCIE means you know more than non CCIE's with
similar experience.

one reason for the big increase is the number of experienced network people
who for whatever reason now find it advantageous to validate their
experience with a certification.

supply and demand, folks.

The run from CCIE #6,800 to CCIE #8,000 was from February
to August 2001. Who say's this certification has and will
maintain it's value with CCIE #10,000 less than 1 year away.
Probably faster with the number of one day lab candidate's
increasing the number's.
