#1. Redistribute <something> is the only way I know, whether you redistribute c
onnected or from another routing protocol (i.e. RIP, IGRP). When you redistrib
ute <something> into a OSPF NSSA the networks will always be a LSA type 7 (N1 o
r N2) within the specified NSSA.

#2. A N1 or N2 route does automatically advertise into the backbone area and th
en on to all the others, BUT the ABR will convert it into a LSA type 5 (E1 or E
2). This is on by default but you can turn it off

#3. When you say metric are you talking OSPF Metric or OSPF Metric type?

Subject: OSPF Redist from NSSA and other OSPF questions...

Say, you had a NSSA, area 10, connected to area 0 router.

You have a lookback interface on the area 10 router you want to show up
in area 0 without putting it in an OSPF area.

Question 1- what are your choices? (is redist connected the only choice?
are there others?)

When I do redist connected, the lo shows up as a N2 or N1 route, as its
from the NSSA. This does not seem to redist past the NSSA ABR, into area
0.

Question 2- does an N1 or N2 route not redist into other areas? Does it
have to be summarized by the ABR?

Question 3- Say I want to change the metrics of an OSPF route from
router to another. What are my choices?

Thanks, in advance, for anyoneB4s help!

David
