- Maybe this wouldn't be off topic if the CCIE IBM
track was still around. . . (grin)
Does anyone have any ideas or tips regarding issues
with using IBM's Anynet for host to OS390 mainframe
connectivity.
Is Anynet meant only to allow SNA traffic to be
routed over an IP network, similar to DLSW, but not
take advantage of typical IP network resiliency?
Or is it expecting LAN like 99.999% reliability
so that redundancy is unnecessary?
What we have found is that even though the client's
IP network has levels of resiliency, that if a
network event occurs, such as a link failing and
HSRP moving to secondary, that in many cases, the
host to mainframe connectivity is lost.
Other services, such as simple NT file sharing,
recovers quite gracefully.
What are other companies doing, are they migrating
from APPN - Anynet to IP on the mainframe?
