OT: DRAM and flash compatibility amongst router models

Does anyone have a guide to what memory is compatible between various router
models?

For example, I've just put a 2500 4Mb DRAM SIMM in a 1600 and it is working
OK but are they actually compatible? The 1600 booted up saying "System/IO
memory with parity enabled (On Board Memory disabled)" so the 2Mb onboard
memory isn't being used while the 4Mb 2500 memory with parity is installed.

I urgently need extra memory in a 1603R and want to know if I use a 2500
16Mb SIMM if it is going to work reliably.
