I recently bought the BGP Configuration handbook which very clearly says
this is useless and suggests using aggregate command instead. This is one of
the best books i have come across which explains every command in detail
with great examples. Wish they wrote something in such detail
for IGRP and ISDN .

Subject: BGP Summary-address command - Is it useless?
I've been poking in the nooks and crannies of BGP and cannot find a use for
the "summary-address" command in the router config mode of BGP. One list
archive message mentions that it may have been an error by Cisco and that
the command actually does nothing. Has anyone found a use for it?
