Beau Williamson's book (Developing IP Multicast Networks) has a couple of
pages in Chapter 15 (Multicast over Traditional NBMA Networks) that includes
Auto-RP over NBMA Networks.
You just have to make sure you configure "ip pim nbma-mode" on the
interfaces, and place the Mapping Agent(s) at the central site (assuming hub
& spoke) => Auto-RP will work (treats the NBMA cloud like a collection of
point-to-point circuits) and the Outgoing Interface List will include
"next-hop" with each entry. With the Mapping Agent at the Central site, it
can inform everyone else where the RP is (which can be at the hub or at the
spokes).
So I guess you don't need sparse-dense-mode (but if you've got the
equipment, then try it out with just sparse-mode & with sparse-dense-mode to
see if it makes any difference - on top of a fully functioning, verified
Frame Relay network that is).
Thank you,

Hi,
Is auto-RP only work in sparse-dense mode ?
If yes, what will happen if NBMA is involved, NBMA only work with sparse
mode.that means we can't configure auto-rp in NBMA network.
