My 1600s run everything I need, including BGP & DLSW. The 1600s just may
not have all the interfaces you need, though. They typically have a fixed
Ethernet and a second fixed port (Ethernet, ISDN, 56K, or serial) and an
open WIC slot. Check the web site for the WICs you can get, but I know that
the 2-port 5-in-1 serial is not supported (just the 1-port WIC-1T). I have
three of them and am able to work them into the scenarios with no problem.
They obviously won't be a frame switch or a hub router, but they do their
function just fine. Anyway, it just depends on the image you are running,
which in turn depends on the flash and the RAM (especially for the 1600R
series, since they use compressed images that 'run from RAM'). I'm sure the
1700s will run everything as well...
