That's why it was a hidden command for so long; because it would create
loops.
I suppose a valid reason to do this would be if you had an entirely BGP
transit path from one AS to another, and you had an IGP elsewhere in your
network. And you wanted the BGP routes injected into the IGP at one point
only, and that point was a router which only learned BGP routes from
intra-AS peers, you would want to do this.
Frankly, I would use a default route instead, but that's just me.
My guess is that they command exists because there were certain strange
designs that actually needed to do that, so the put it in there. It
shouldn't come up often, I would think.
