Sorry to hear you're on the bench. Have you looked at dice.com? I'm not in
the market, but I look occasionally to watch the value of my certs. I
thought there was a decent number of positions requiring ccie cert. Many
were in the Bay Area as I recall. I didn't notice if they were
contract/project oriented, though.
Generically speaking, though, I have seen a slow-down in new projects. The
tier 1 ISP I support for Cisco has slowed new project spending. And locally
(South Florida) a many integrators are cutting all but their most productive
technical talent (much like Cisco) due to a lack of business. Seems like
only the grey marketeers are making much money right now selling defunct
dot-com equipment.
