RE: online scheduling availability UPDATE

Folks,
I received an offline reply from someone overseas who urged me to
elaborate on my statements...so here it is:

I casually look (about twice a day) at RTP and San Jose. I work in RTP so
obviously this would be my first choice. I have observed during my inquiry
that neither location has had anything solid available before jan 2002. I'm
sure more dates have popped up but as I am not aggresively persueing a
reschedule at this point I have not been logged in enough to catch one. I
have noticed an availability of June and July dates in Brazil and Canada. I
also noticed some December dates in Belgium. If someone really needed to get
into the lab and travel was not a big issue there certainly is ample
opportunity. I just was pointing out that the more popular facilities (as
would be expected) really stay booked. If I have bothered anyone else
overseas please accept my apologies in advance. Bob, this wasn't directed to
you I just used your email. I completely agree about it "being hit or miss".
And your odds of a "hit" depend on the effort you make. Thanks.

Charles,

I made one of those comments that you referred to. What I said (and I think
that this is also what others are saying) is that if you keep looking at the
site for the earliest available date, you will probably stumble on a date
within a week or less of the current date. This is because the system will
reflect the available status of recently rescheduled or dropped dates. So
you might see a date available in the very near future (3-5 days) or the
other option is dates "at the end of the line" six months or more from now.

It is hit or miss though and you would have to be ready on short notice...

Bob
