I understand and agree with what your saying. I guess it's a matter of how
desparate you are. The more desparate the individual....the more time
they'll spend refreshing availability dates online. ;) It is just
interesting to note that there aren't necessarily as many free dates
floating around as originally anticipated unless you want to go to one of
the external US labs that might possibly have more available dates.

I made one of those comments that you referred to. What I said (and I think
that this is also what others are saying) is that if you keep looking at the
site for the earliest available date, you will probably stumble on a date
within a week or less of the current date. This is because the system will
reflect the available status of recently rescheduled or dropped dates. So
you might see a date available in the very near future (3-5 days) or the
other option is dates "at the end of the line" six months or more from now.
It is hit or miss though and you would have to be ready on short notice...
