area 1 can only communicate to area 2 if both are connected to the backbone
area. area 0.

how do you do ospf authentication again? it's been already 7 weeks since my
last attempt and i'm a bit unsure. i do know that there are two ways. one
way is just a single command under the interface (ipospf auth?) for each
router in the area. the other way is under the router config along with
interface config commands. both of which should have the same result. and
there is one issue with authentication that every CCIE should know.
