Sanjay,
keys could be different in an area provided they are same on a segment\link.
Other areas need not to have authentication but all routers in that area
should have same authentication.

Guys,

When you configure MD5 authentication for a certain OSPF area (lets say area
1), all routers in area 1 needs to have the MD5 authentication setup using
the
same key....is this correct ??

Secondly, the routers in Area 1 will continue to communicate with routers
from
other areas (say area 2), even though Area 2 routers don't have any
authentication setup.. is this correct ??
