It bothers me that an error can flow for so long...
What I mean is, there are config examples in the IOS manuals (that another
member posted to this thread) that show the Ethernet-only router having a
source-bridge statement. It doesn't break anything, but it's not required.
What bugs me is that all over the place people have used that config example
and never bothered to try without it. Since it doesn't break anything, they
figure it's correct.
To summarize, it's correct without it, but I'd argue that it's somewhat
correct to have it, in that it doesn't explicitly break anything. It's one
error on the CD that's never been removed and has worked its way through
reference materials like a virus!
