Yes, I've heard it's a good idea to learn how to wipe the config and
blow it back in--quickly!
I've heard some (most, all?) releases of the 3900 code can be flakey. A
case in point: someone once told me they carved up the switch into
multiple rings, ran several protocols across it--including hsrp--and the
switch stopped forwarding after rebooting one of the routers connected
to it.
Resetting/power cycling the switch had no effect--he wiped the config
and blew the exact same config back in and it started to work again!

I would suggest getting as familiar as possible with the interface and
how
to troubleshoot any issues which may occur while using the switch.

Subject: 3900 Token Ring Switch - Scenarios?
I have a 3900 tr switch now, but all I can think to do with it is to
create
a couple TRbrf's and then create some TRcrf's and assign each TRcrf to a
TRbrf to create each "vlan/ring". Is there anything else I should make
sure
I know how to do with this thing? Does anyone know of any lab scenarios
that
involve this switch or have any examples of things to do that they can
post.
