You can also just hit ctrl+shift+6 then hit 6 again without letting go
of ctrl and shift then hit X and it should bring you back to R2.

Andrew,
This drove me mad the other day, then I had a brain wave.
On R2 set the escape-sequence to look for say Ctrl+P and X, that way when
you telnet to R3 from R2 and press Ctrl+P and X then only R2 will interpret
the Ctrl+P x Escape sequence R1 will ignore Ctrl+P and X as it is looking
for Ctrl+Shift and X.
To set R2 for an escape sequence of Ctrl+P and X type one of two commands:
* Global config mode terminal escape-character 16
or
* Line vty 0 4 escape-character 16
Let me know how you get on.
Regards,
Craig

R1 ----> R2 ----> R3
If I have three routers and telnet from R1 to R2 then reverse telnet to R3
is there a way to get back to R2. For security reasons it is not possible to
telnet directly to R2.
CNTR Shift 6 X takes me back to R1 !
I have a real world situation where I need to use R2 (terminal server) to do
config work on 48 new devices and just flicking between them would make life
so much easier.
Thanks,
Andrew Shore
