you could always write a simple config on another router, with the
appropriate AUX port settings, save it, swap the flash chips on the two
routers, then reboot on the new flash chip and troubleshoot away ... if you
do not have access to this, the idea on playing with the HyperTerminal
settings is good ... this is also a troubleshooting technique best learned
before the lab (I picked it up at the BRS class .. thanks James!) GL!

Subject: 2502 Problem

Console port seems to be bad,
can get in through the aux port once the router come up, but, since there
is no enable password set, i can not go to priviledge mode. the router
says " no password set" when i type enable and try to go to enable mode.

is there a way to erase the NVRAM by playing with jumpers, etc. that is
the only way, i think i can get in through the aux port and use the
router without and go to enable mode.

other option, i think off is slight dangereous

has anyone swapped the two ports, how hard is it?

any comments would be highly appreciated
