Agreed. I believe we should be very careful in our interpretation of what
is difficult and what is simple. We should also limit (personal email
filter) the OT questions, but thats not Paul's job.

I for one have been extremely pleased with this site and the great
explanations. Hopefully, I'll be writing one of those #73xx emails this
week. I take the LAB on Thursday/Friday.

Paul, thank you for giving us a forum to communicate the difficult and
not-so-difficult issues of the LAB. btw, you also teach a mean OSPF and BGP
class :-)

I personally think that even the most simple technologies can carry deep
complexities and in many cases, seemingly simple questions may mask those
deep complexities. Certainly how to turn up OSPF on a router does not fit
that mix, but many other questions might. I think that if screening is to
be done, it must be in form of admissions control to ensure that the
membership are focused on providing insight or developing knowledge related
to the CCIE Lab. However, many valuable members of this list have no intent
on writing the LAB exam and I don't believe we should eliminate them. Many
of the most technically sound people I have met have never spent the time
nor deemed it necessary to sit the lab, yet their insight is very
beneficial.

However, Paul is a busy enough guy and likely doesn't have time to weed
through numerous applications and provide any type of involved admissions
control so it's likely going to come down to Darwinism of sorts :) If you
think a question is too basic, don't answer it. Or, provide an in depth
answer developing some more advanced concepts that are more relevant.

Pete
