Hi,

When you configure passive-interface for OSPF what does it really do?

The docs say it is for use on simplex ethernet interfaces, but I don't
really understand what its trying to say.

If you use it is doesn't send hellos. I understand that.
It therefore won't establish adjacencies. I understand that.

Will it advertise the interface (the one marked passive) in a Type 1 LSA?
Is there really a need for it if it doesn't, as the network statement allows
you to specify precisely what interfaces you want to run OSPF on.

cheers,

niall
