It is kind of difficult to tell what is going on without doing the lab, but
I think if you can copy and paste the ospf database from R3 it will make it
easier unless you can wait till later today when I can do the lab and see
what is happening.

Thanks

Subject: BootCamp Lab 7

Hi, everyone.

While going through ccbootcamp lab 7, I found something very stange.

I am doing mutual redistribution on R2 and R6 without AD manipulation, I
assume R3 should see
two equal cost routes about 10.51.0.0/16, one through R2, the other through
R6, in fact R3 is
using only R2. If you shutdown the E0 interface of R2, it will use R6, when
you bring R2's E0
back up, R3 is still using the R6 path.

R3's route table:
--------------------------
O IA 10.6.0.0/16 [110/74] via 10.100.1.6, 00:21:04, Serial0.1
O E2 10.21.0.0/16 [110/20] via 10.101.1.2, 00:21:04, Serial0.2
O E2 10.51.0.0/16 [110/20] via 10.101.1.2, 00:16:40, Serial0.2
O E2 10.65.0.0/16 [110/20] via 10.100.1.6, 00:21:04, Serial0.1
--------------------------
........

R2's configuration:
--------------------------
router ospf 1
 redistribute rip subnets
 network 10.101.0.0 0.0.255.255 area 0
 network 137.20.20.0 0.0.0.255 area 2
 default-information originate metric 200 metric-type 1
!
router rip
 redistribute ospf 1 metric 10
 passive-interface Ethernet0
 passive-interface Serial0
 network 10.0.0.0
---------------------------

R6's configuatioin:
--------------------------
router ospf 1
 redistribute rip subnets
 network 10.6.1.1 0.0.0.0 area 6
 network 10.100.0.0 0.0.255.255 area 0
!
router rip
 redistribute ospf 1 metric 10
 passive-interface Ethernet0
 passive-interface Serial0
 network 10.0.0.0
--------------------------

Can anybody shed some light on this ? TIA.

Best Rdgs.
