Tariq,

You can do this if you connect the two switches with two connections from
each, meaning connect two ports on CAT1 to 2 ports to CAT2, at this time one
will be elected root so the other one will see two links to the root and STP
will kick in and you will see that one port on the non-root bridge is in
blocking state. you can setup trunks and do a lot of practice with two
switches.

Hi all,

I wanted to practice STP & trunking on Cat5ks. At the moment I get my hands
on 2 (5002). Could you tell me if it is possible to do STP & trunks by
having 2 connections between the 2 switches? I know ideally I need 3 to get
STP going but may be I can get some practice with 2?
