Hi, Justin
PPP authentication is two-way. It means that RTA authenticates RTB
independently in the way RTB does RTA in the following configuration.
Here, RTA authenticates RTB with pap, and RTB authenticates RTA with chap.
RTA - username RTB password cisco // for chap and pap
ppp authentication pap
RTB - username RTA password cisco // for chap
ppp authentication chap
ppp pap sent-username RTB password cisco //for pap
But if you want to use a different password for pap from that for chap, you
can configure it like this:but in this case, you have to adjust dialer map
hostname accordingly in RTA, if it's also configured. If you don't, you may
have some difficulties with DDR.
RTA - username RTB password cisco // for chap
username RTB-pap password sanfran //for pap
ppp authentication pap
RTB - username RTA password cisco // for chap
ppp authentication chap
ppp pap sent-username RTB-pap password sanfran //for pap
To make it simple, here's one way pap authentication, where only RTA
authenticates RTB,
RTA - username RTB password cisco // for pap
ppp authentication pap
RTB - ppp pap sent-username RTB password cisco //for pap
Hope this helps.
Regards,
Jaeheon
