Ramesh,

Answer to your first question:
Yes, all OSPF routers in the same area will have (or should) identical link
state databases.

2nd question:
In the area0 area1 area 4 config below, you would configure area 0
authentication on the router connected to area 0, and also on the router
connected to area 0, you would use the command area x virtual-link x.x.x.x
message-digest 1 md5 <password>. You would also do the same on the other
end of the virtual link....remember a virtual link is an extension of area
0. Also, this is only for authentication, you would still use the virtual
link commands on the router connecting the remote area to area 0.

question 3.
I would use debug ip ospf packet debug ip ospf events, debug ip ospf
lsa-generation, these are all good additions to debug ip ospf adj.
