I have been meaning to write this email for a while now.

I passed the CCIE on my first attempt in SJ on March 18th.

My studies consisted of the usual reading (Caslow, Doyle, most of the CCIE
press books) and a ton of lab time (CCIE BootCamp, Fatkid, others)

The best advice that I can give anyone preparing for this endeavor is to get
a study plan organized early on (outline the technologies you will have to
know and areas of weakness that you will have to focus on). It will help to
save you time and wasted effort. Also, don't ever give up or concede defeat.
I can't believe how many people I have met that were preparing for the CCIE
lab but didn't expect to pass because it was their first time and "no one
passes on the first try". Don't set your self up for failure before you even
step foot in the lab. The last piece of advice I have is that I think it is
worth the loss of time to periodically take a break during the lab. Taking 5
min to step out, splash some water on your face, and clear you mind will
allow you to step back from the scenarios for a while and spot issues you
may have been missing. When we broke for lunch on day 1 my lab was not going
well. I was not able to get some things working that I had configured at
least 100 time in practice. After returning from lunch I looked at my
configurations and within 15 min found a few careless mistakes.

Good Luck
