I tried the password recovery from your description below and it worked for
me. I was able to erase the system password. By pressing the SysReq button
I got the new menu. I selected to erase the password. Then I selected to
go back to the main menu. Before sending me back to the main menu a message
appeared saying the password was being cleared. Now back at the main menu I
was able to get in with a blank password. I did not have to power cycle the
switch at all. Hope this helps? Sondra
I'm testing password recovery on a 3900 Token Ring switch. Cisco's
instructions include pressing the SysReq button on the switch then choosing
"Clear the System Password" from the menu that comes up. I follow these
steps and then reload when the switch directs me to do so but when the
switch comes back up the invalid password is still active. Anyone had any
experience with this?
