Troy,
You almost have the answer, but assuming one has 2 trunk links between 2
switches and say can't do challening (older ISL capable, non-channel capable
port). You have to play with spanning tree, but not using 'set spantree
root', rather 'set spantree portvlanpri' to assign different priorities to
the same VLAN on different trunk links/ports.
