Joseph,

I'd check the trunks. Sounds like they're dropping some VLANS at
times. Is it an IP only network? Since they're 2948G switches (not L3,
right?), they must be using 802.1q. Maybe make the trunks on instead of
auto negotiate? How is VTP set up? Do the VTP version database numbers
match along all devices? Hope this helps.

Chuck

Subject: Intermittent communication with various VLANs

Hello Everyone
Hope all is well today. I wanted to know if anyone has ran into the
following problem.

Operating Environment:
       Catalyst 6509 at the Core
       2948Gs at the IDF closets.

Problem:
Various VLANS lose communication from time to time with the rest of the
network:
    * Computers on the malfunctioning VLAN can't ping inside or outside
of the
    VLAN.
    * The VLANs span multiple switches and none of the computers on the
VLAN
    can communicate.
    * Computers assigned to another VLAN on the same switch can
communicate
    fine.
    * This is not specific to a one vlan, One day it could be vlan 10 the
next
    day 12.

Thank you in advance for your support. May everyone have a prosperous and
peaceful day.

Joseph
