You nailed it. I had an ARP issue. This is a neat little command.
(Basically, it was a situation where I checked via ping from one
network, and the device didn't respond. So I used that IP address.
However, it was a valid IP address, but it only knew about the
local net (no default route, it's lab equipment) so if I had done
my ping test on the local net I'd not been in this mess. :-)
