Guys this thread goes on forever. Now I am adding my 2 cents. If you look at
how the CCIE is getting broken up into specialties it looks as if the CCIE
R/S is not the all in one answer any more and should not have to include
everything and the kitchen sink from the IOS. CCIE Security will have IPSec
and PIX and the lot. Dial and Switching I guess are becoming more Service
Provider, so there is where the real dial and switching come into play.
Design will be back and they added the Wireless Specialization so what next
CCIE RF, and I would expect to see an Optical Specialization if not an
optical CCIE soon. So the CCIE R/S is just the beginning and if you really
look at it CCIE R/S just covers a broad range of basics. I would liken it to
a masters and the specialization more like PHD's. Just my opinion of what I
see happening though I could be wrong. I know I'm going to specialize after
finishing the R/S.
