I thought DLSW with FST and Direct encap only supported token ring attached
endstations, not Ethernet attached endstations. with FST you can have
ethernet in the IP cloud obviously. As your end stations are ethernet
attached then traffic will not be passed. FST also does not support local
ack, so will pass the RIF thru to the remote ring

I remember reading this in Cisco Network Design and Case Studies, see
chapter 8: DLSW Advanced features.
