I'd say that drawing the network is a VERY good thing indeed. =-)
You've GOTTA know yourself here...do you work more efficiently drawing as
you build, after, or before?
As for writing the configs out beforehand...I wouldn't waste your
time. Spend that time PUTTING the configs on the routers. You're level
of proficiency really needs to be at a level where you can troubleshoot
several routers (and your own installation) from the same terminal server.
But...it all comes down to what works best anf fastest for you.
