Sorry, I just checked CCO. Upgrade your IOS to "plus".
The book I referenced is out dated.

You need a 3600 or higher unless Cisco recently changed their code for
2600's.
(won't work).

Subject: Help with isl trunking on a 2620
I have a question concerning isl trunking on the 2620. I tried to type
"encapsulation isl" on fastethernet 0/0.1. I get the old "% Invalid input
detected at '^' marker." When I try to type in the ip address for the
subinterface I get the following error message "Configuring IP routing on a
LAN subinterface is only allowed if that subinterface is already configured
as part of an IEEE 802.10, IEEE 802.1Q, or ISL vLAN." My IOS version is
12.0(3)T3, which as far as I can tell from Cisco's website, does support
trunking.
Any thoughts/suggestions.
