Use the area range command when summarizing inter-area routes with OSPF. Use
Summary-address when summarizing between routing domains. I this case,
redistribute RIP into OSPF with the subnets parameter and the use summary
address to inject a summarized router into OSPF. For these given addresses,
you are going to have to summarize at a 22 bit boundary for the 1.0 and 3.0
subnets. Then you will only see 2 routes in OSPF.

Subject: OSPF Scenario
I have a scenario where I am redistributing RIP into OSPF. In the RIP
network I have 3 routes, 199.172.1.0/24,199.172.3.0/24, and 199.172.12.0/24.
I am asked to redistribute RIP into OSPF and summarize so that I am only
redistributing 2 routes into OSPF. I have read alot about the area-range
and address-summ commands. I am now getting a little confused. Can someone
show me how would they tackle this problem??
Thank you,
