A manifestation of the "phantom clock rate"
My guess is that you are entering the command on the interface that does NOT
have the DCE end of the cable attached.
Do a show controllers int ( whatever) to verify.
Or just put the command on the interface on the other router
Little comprehended fact - the DCE end and clockrate do NOT have to be on
the frame switch side. difference between physical and logical DCE

Subject: Router as frame switch
Hello!
=20
In attempt to configure a 2511 as a frame switch to two other routers I
enter in clock rate 64000 on s0 and it will not show up on the config.
Has anyone ever seen this? Running IOS 11.2 (19a) I can enter clock =
rate
on s1 and it will show up on running config.
Ideas?
