Just to double check what you are saying... You brought up some frame
links(N), inv arp did it's thing, you added fram map commands (N-1), you
then reloaded that router/shut the interfaces, and without everything
statically mapped after the reload the dlci's that weren't mapped showed up
in a show frame map with the dlci mapped to the IP address of the other
end??
wow... I was under the impression this couldn't be, but maybe something has
changed in the new IOS's. Are you running a flavor of 12.1??
Can you send the configs and show map statement after a reload?

I was working through a number of frame relay lab and made =
some pretty cool observations. The big one being that I had Inverse-Arp =
working as well while using the "frame-map" command. Everything I know =
tells me this shouldn't be but it works.
I reloaded the routers and the Inverse arp worked. Even after shutting =
